Our Story

It all started in a shed — literally.
Mike Thornburg, along with his neighbor at the time, Mike Ramsey, had a shared passion for brewing and a dream for something bigger. Working with a modest 5 gallon system in Mike Thornburg’s backyard shed, they started crafting small batches of beer with big ambition.
The dream began to take shape when Mike's son, Josh — who was working for a beer distributor in Huntsville, AL — joined the conversation. With industry insight and a shared love of craft beer, Josh helped kick around the idea of turning their backyard brewing into a full-fledged business. That’s when the name Ole Shed Brewing Company was born — a nod to where it all began.
From those humble beginnings, Ole Shed quickly outgrew its original setup. Sole owner Mike Thornburg upgraded from a 1-barrel system to a 15-barrel brewhouse, marking the beginning of what would become a long line of delicious brews. And as for the rest? Well, that’s history still in the making.
